* The NWA U.S. Title is declared vacant when Dusty Rhodes attacks Jim Crockett, Jr. on April 15, 1988. 

9.         Barry Windham vs. Nikita Koloff for the vacant NWA U.S. Title.  (Barry Windham wins the NWA U.S. Title in a seven
man tournament. May 13, 1988 in Houston, TX)

10.     Barry Windham vs. Brad Armstrong.  

11.     Barry Windham vs. Lex Luger.  (February 20, 1989 in Chicago, IL)

12.     Lex Luger vs. Michael Hayes.  (Why Hayes won the title, I'll never know.  May 7, 1989 in Nashville, TN)

13.     Michael Hayes vs. Lex Luger.  (Well, he didn't hold it very long.  May 22, 1989 in Bluefield, WV)

14.     Lex Luger vs. Stan Hansen.  (With the help of his All Japan tag team partner Dan Spivey, Hansen puts Lex away with his

1.        Lex Luger vs. Barry Windham in a Steel Cage Match for the vacant WCW World Title. (US Champ, Lex Luger wins the vacant
WCW World Title and the U.S. Title is declared vacant.  July 14, 1991 in Baltimore, MD)

2.        Sting vs. Steve Austin for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (Sting wins the WCW U.S. Title in a sixteen man tournament.
August 25, 1991 in Atlanta, GA)

3.        Sting vs. Rick Rude.  (November 19, 1991 in Savannah, GA - Rude, now at the absolute PEAK of his career, wins the U.S.

5.        Dustin Rhodes vs. Rick Rude.  (Due to a controversial finish, the title is held up.  May 1993)

6.        Dustin Rhodes vs. Rick Rude for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (Dustin regains the U.S. Title.  August 30, 1993 in Atlanta, GA)

7.        Dustin Rhodes vs. "Stunning" Steve Austin (Austin, still working a technical heel style as opposed to his now more widely
known brawling style as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, wins the U.S. title in a 2/3 falls match on December 27, 1993 in
Charlotte, NC.  Much like Rude in 1991, Austin dominates as U.S. champ for an extended period of time.)

8.        Steve Austin vs. Ricky Steamboat.  (August 24, 1994 in Cedar Rapids, IA)

 * Due to injury, Ricky Steamboat is forced to forfeit the WCW U.S. Title to Steve Austin by WCW Commissioner Nick
Bockwinkle on September 18, 1994 in Roanoke, VA.

9.        Steve Austin vs. Jim Duggan.  (In an absolute TRAVESTY, Austin drops the title to Duggan in less than a minute! 
September 18, 1994 in Roanoke, VA.   Austin would soon take time off for an injury and be unceremoniously fired over
the phone.  Eric Bischoff was under the belief that there was no real way to market a wrestler who just wears black.  2
years later, the bald headed, goateed, all black wearing STONE COLD Steve Austin would make Bischoff eat his words
as he would become one of the most popular and marketable wrestlers in the HISTORY OF THE SPORT)

10.     Jim Duggan vs. Big Van Vader.  (Vader relieves us of Duggan's 3 month run as champion.  December 27, 1994 –
Nashville, TN The WCW U.S. Title is vacated on April 23, 1995 when Big Van Vader is stripped by WCW Commissioner
Nick Bockwinkle.) 

11.     Sting vs. Meng for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (Sting wins the WCW U.S. Title in a sixteen man tournament.
June 18, 1995 in Dayton, OH)

12.     Champion Sting vs. Kensuke Sasaki.  (Sasaki becomes the first Japanese wrestler to win the U.S. Title - November 13, 1995
in Tokyo, JAPAN)

13.     Kensuke Sasaki vs. The One Man Gang.  (WHAT?  THE GANG WINS THE U.S. TITLE?  HOW THE HELL DID THAT
HAPPEN?  December 27, 1995 in Nashville, TN)

14.     One Man Gang vs. Konnan.  (Konnan wins the title from the Gang.  January 29, 1996 in Canton, OH)

15.     Champion Konnan vs. Ric Flair.  (July 7, 1996 in Daytona Beach, FL "The Nature Boy" wins his 6th U.S. Title!  Most fans
don't remember Ric Flair as a U.S. Champion largely because he lost his 5th U.S. Title in 1/81 before winning his first
NWA World Title later that year.   Ric Flair would be forced to vacate the WCW U.S. Title in November 1996.)

1.        Eddie Guerrero vs. Diamond Dallas Page for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (Eddie Guerrero wins the WCW U.S. Title in an
eight  man tournament. December 29, 1996 in Nashville, TN)

2.        Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko.  (GREAT MATCH!  March 16, 1997 in Charleston, SC)

3.        Dean Malenko vs. Jeff Jarrett.  (June 9, 1997 in Boston, MA)

4.        Champion Jeff Jarrett vs. Steve McMichael.  (GOD did McMichael SUCK!  August 21, 1997 in Nashville, TN)
Steve McMichael vs. Curt Hennig.  (September 15, in Charlotte - NC Hennig becomes the second wrestler to hold both the
       WWF Intercontinental and the WCW U.S. Title.  [Steamboat & Rude had already accomplished the feat before.])

5.        Curt Hennig vs. Diamond Dallas Page.  (December 28, 1997 in Washington, DC)

6.        Diamond Dallas Page vs. Raven.  (April 19, 1998 in Denver, CO)

7.        Raven vs. Bill Goldberg.  (The completely UNSTOPPABLE Goldberg rolls through Raven to win the U.S. Title in what was
claimed the 50th match in his un-defeated streak.  April 20, 1998 in Colorado Springs, CO .  The WCW U.S. Title would be
vacated on July 6, 1998 when Bill Goldberg won the WCW World Title.)

8.        Bret Hart vs. Diamond Dallas Page for the vacant WCW U.S. Title. (Bret Hart becomes the next man to join the U.S. & IC
champions club)

9.        Bret Hart vs. Lex Luger.  (Luger wins his 5th U.S. Title!  August 10, 1998 in Rapid City, SD.  But he doesn't hold it long…)

10.     Lex Luger vs. Bret Hart.  ("The Hitman" regains the title.  August 13, 1998 in Fargo, ND)

11.     Bret Hart vs. Diamond Dallas Page.  (October 26, 1998 in Phoenix, AZ)

12.     Diamond Dallas Page vs. Bret Hart.  (November 30, 1998 in Chattanooga, TN)

13.     Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper.  (The "Hot Rod" attempts to regain some of his former glory in beating the man who took the

       WWF Intercontinental title from him 7 years earlier.  February 8, 1999 in Buffalo, NY – cut off)

1.        Roddy Piper vs. Scott Hall.  (February 21, 1999 in Oakland, CA - Due to injury, Scott Hall is forced to vacate the WCW U.S.

      Title by WCW President Ric Flair on March 18, 1999)

2.        Scott Steiner vs. Booker T for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (Scott Steiner wins the WCW U.S. Title in an eight man tournament.  April 11, 1999 in Tacoma, WA. 

        Scott Steiner is stripped of the WCW U.S. Title by WCW President Ric Flair due to not       defending it on July 5, 1999 in Atlanta, GA.)

3.         WCW President Ric Flair awards the WCW U.S. Title to David Flair on July 5, 1999 in Atlanta, GA.  And if you've seen David

       Flair in the ring, you know that he was the most undeserving U.S. Champion in the title's history. 

4.        David Flair vs. Chris Benoit.  (The "Canadian Crippler" FINALLY wins something above the TV title.  August 9, 1999 in

        Nampa, ID)

5.        Chris Benoit vs. Sid Vicious.  (September 12, 1999 in Winston-Salem, NC) 

6.        Sid Vicious vs. Bill Goldberg.  (October 24, 1999 in Las Vegas, NV) 

7.         Champion Bill Goldberg vs. Bret Hart.  (October 25, 1999 in Phoenix, AZ - Bret Hart vacates the WCW U.S. Title on        November 1, 1999.)

8.        Scott Hall vs. Bret Hart vs. Bill Goldberg vs. Sid Vicious in a Four-Way Ladder Match for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.

* WCW Executives Eric Bischoff & Vince Russo declare the WCW U.S. Title vacant on April 10, 2000 in Denver, CO.

11.      Scott Steiner vs. Sting for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  ("Big Poppa Pump" wins the WCW U.S. Title in an eight man
tournament. April 16, 2000 in Chicago, IL.  Scott Steiner would be forced to vacate the WCW U.S. Title on July 9, 2000 in

        Daytona Beach, FL.)

12.     Lance Storm vs. Mike Awesome for the vacant WCW U.S. Title.  (July 18, 2000 in Auburn Hills, MI.  Lance Storm wins the

       WCW U.S. Title in an eight man tournament. Lance Storm soon afterwards declares himself as the WCW Canadian
Champion.)

*NOTE:  Terry Funk would defeat Lance Storm on September 22, 2000 in Amarillo, TX to win the WCW U.S. Title & Lance Storm
 would regain the title from Funk on September 23, 2000 in Lubbock, TX However, neither title match is recognized on television.

13.      WCW U.S. (Canadian) Champion Lance Storm & Jim Duggan vs. Hugh Morrus in a Handicap Match.  (With 2 on 1 odds,

        Morrus STILL manages to win the U.S. title!  10/29/00 Las Vegas, NV)

14.     Champion Hugh Morrus vs. Lance Storm.  (Storm regains the title.  November 10, 2000 in London, ENGLAND)

15.     WCW U.S. (Canadian) Champion Lance Storm vs. Hugh Morrus.  (November 26, 2000 in Milwaukee, WI)

16.      Hugh Morrus vs. Shane Douglas in a First Blood Chain Match.  (The Franchise wins his first WCW Gold in nearly 10 years!
